The Center for Health and Gender Equity mourns the loss of Prudence Mabele, a pioneer of HIV activism and defender of women’s human rights. Mabele was the founder of Positive Women’s Network South Africa and used her voice to spotlight issues faced by people living with HIV. Prudence Mabele was an inspiration to countless advocates around the world.

CHANGE had the opportunity to know Prudence Mabele through our advocacy for HIV prevention for women and girls and through the “Women Won’t Wait” campaign that promoted women's health and rights in the HIV/AIDS response and worked to end all forms of violence against women and girls. Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends, and colleagues.
